Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

Logo and brand identity

RACS are the accrediting body for surgical specialists in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.

The original “logo” a complex coat of arms, was considered white-male-centric, generic and outdated. The new logo is contemporary, legible and unique. It incorporates elements of the original coat of arms – the shield, flame and swan, as well as a stylised scalpel shape. As an important and beloved part of RACS history, the coat of arms is maintained for ceremonial purposes.

The project included a brand audit and rebrand strategy, style guide and multiple document templates.
